The in-person At the Limits meetings take place throughout the year and across the globe.

But to stay in more frequent contact with our professional medical community in 2023 we’re expanding our modes and frequency of contact. This starts on February 13th when we will launch OPEN DIALOGUE, our program of monthly webcasts in Cardiology, Diabetes and Nephrology for the benefit of our LATAM audience.

The first webcast – polypill strategy in secondary cardiovascular prevention

Professor Andrei Sposito (of CAMPINAS, São Paulo) will be webcasting monthly interviews with leading authors in the disease area who will outline their most recent papers and discuss the relevance to the local LATAM audience. Starting in February his first interview will be with Professor Borja Ibáñez, Director of Clinical Research of the National Center for Cardiovascular Research in Spain who will discuss his most recent paper in the NEJM produced in association with Dr Valentin Fuster, looking at polypill strategy in secondary cardiovascular prevention https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2208275. The study concluded that treatment with a polypill containing aspirin, ramipril, and atorvastatin within 6 months after myocardial infarction resulted in a significantly lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events than usual care. Professor Ibáñez will expand on the findings of the study and discuss opportunities for treatment strategies for LATAM patients.

The programme of webcasts will continue on Monday nights throughout 2023 when we will feature a host of internationally recognised speakers undertaking 30-minute interviews and in March, we will welcome Dr Paul Friedman of the Mayo Clinic who will be looking at AI in cardiovascular disease. Many readers may remember Professor Friedman’s presentation at the live meeting in São Paulo last October (see it here) and we very much look forward to him expanding on this during the upcoming webinar in March.

It’s going to be a busy year for At the Limits and we very much look forward to bringing you along on our journey, spreading knowledge and education from the very best scientists and researchers across the globe.

Please note: The Open Dialogue programme of LATAM webcasts is strictly for the professional healthcare community and is kindly funded by Novo Nordisk. Novo Nordisk has had no input into the choice of topics or speakers, all of which are independently selected by Professor Sposito.
