CDNB 2019: Venue
The venue for the scientific sessions will be the University of Campinas, commonly called Unicamp, a public research university in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
Unicamp is consistently ranked among the top universities in Brazil and Latin America.
Established in 1962, its main campus occupies 3.5 square kilometres (860 acres) located in the Barão Geraldo district, a suburban area 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from the centre of Campinas, and built shortly after the creation of the university.
Multiple international university rankings place it amongst the best universities in the world, with QS placing it in the Top 200 globally and ranking it the 11th best university under 50 years and in 2015 it was rated as the best university in the country by Brazil’s Ministry of Education.
Unicamp’s main campus houses the School of Medical Sciences’ teaching hospital, the Hospital das Clinicas. The hospital has almost 1,000 beds, and serves half a million people every year through Brazil’s unified public health system. The hospital directly employs 3,100 people, and also serves as a practice centre for the university’s faculty and a training and residency centre for the students of medicine, nursery and speech therapy.
