Professor Frank Griesinger is a Director of the Department of Hematology and Oncology at the Pius-Hospital, lecturer at the University of Göttingen, and holds a Professorship in Oncology at the University of Oldenburg.
After a post doctoral research fellowship at the University of Minnesota in molecular and cellular biology, he was trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology and Oncology at the Universities of Frankfurt, Muenster and then in Göttingen. He initially treated a wide rang of tumours including leukaemia, lymphoma, and solid tumors, but has focused and specialized in the treatment of lung tumors over the last 15 years. He has been active in Phase II and III trials in lung cancer, and has specialised in studies in the neoadjuvant setting. Professor Griesinger is a member of ASCO, ASH, IASLC and the steering committee of the Thoracic Oncology Group of the AIO in Germany.
Professor Griesinger has further researched interests in the treatment of molecular subgroups of lung cancer. He is currently very involved in introducing molecular stratified treatments in the lung cancer in Germany and is the 1st author of guidelines of the German Society of Hematology and Oncology for the treatment of Non-Small-Cell-Lung Cancer.
