Dr. Leslie Samuel is Macmillan Consultant Oncologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, UK, with a special interest in gastrointestinal cancers.
He qualified & trained in internal medicine in Edinburgh, UK, and in oncology in Auckland, NZ, and Dundee & Edinburgh in the UK. His science training was in Glasgow & London, UK. His research interests are in the therapeutics of colorectal cancer, and locally advanced rectal cancer in particular.
He is an investigator in many clinical trials in colorectal cancer, and a member of the NCRN Colorectal Study Group ‘advanced disease’ and ‘anorectal cancer’ sub-groups. Developing and evaluating different models of healthcare in oncology practice with academic primary care colleagues are another area of research activity.
He is currently the Specialty Adviser to the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland for Clinical Oncology, and a member of the Scottish Medical & Scientific Advisory Committee for the Scottish Government.
