Dr David Rog is a Consultant Neurologist at Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. He studied at Nottingham University Medical School and received his BMedSci (Hons, 1st class) in 1994 and BM, BS in 1996. Following general medical training in the North West, he trained in Neurology at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, where he completed his MD thesis entitled ’Measurement and Treatment of Neuropathic Pain in MS’. His work on Sativex in MS neuropathic pain won the CMSC Whitaker Track award in 2006. In 2007, Dr Rog was appointed Consultant with a specialist interest in MS at Salford Royal, where he continues to assist in the leadership of the MS team and the regional MS disease-modifying treatments (DMTs) clinic, responsible for the assessment and follow up of over 1800 patients. Outside the clinic, Dr Rog and colleagues wrote the second edition of ‘Multiple Sclerosis at Your Fingertips’, which was shortlisted for the 2010 BMA Book Awards Popular Medicine Category. Dr Rog has also developed several teaching tools for HCPs working with people with MS, including an audiovisual atlas of clinical examination clips and patient descriptions of their symptoms. Dr Rog is also the Principle Investigator on several multi-national MS clinical trials, national co-ordinator for 3 UK DMT pregnancy registries and the NIHR Speciality Lead for Neurological Disorders in Greater Manchester. He is developing an interest in digital health as the Divisional Chief Clinical Information Officer for Neurosciences.
